Hello! I'm Dave, and I'm a man with a van, except what I have is a pickup truck. The pickup bed is 7 feet by 4.5 feet (84" x 54"), and 3 feet (36in) between the wheel wells. It's an old truck, which means the bed is longer than the little beds on most newer trucks. It'll fit a king-size mattress or a sheet of plywood, no problem.
Call or text (504) 507-0254 for a quote.
Basic rates start at $75 per trip, plus extra, depending on what the load is, and how far it has to go. That rate also assumes you, or someone you bring, can help me load and unload the truck. I can bring more movers, but that changes the price quite a bit.
I don't just move furniture! I can:
- move construction trash or yard trash to the dump (the dump does not accept furniture though; did you know that? I didn't.)
- bring plants from the nursery to your place (I'm happy to help you plant if you want; I'll work that into the quote.)
- pick up heavy stuff like cinder blocks or gravel from hardware stores and bring them to your place.
Supplies and tools I can provide:
- Moving blankets/cloths/tarps
- Screwdrivers and wrenches for dismantling and reassembling furniture
- Ratchet straps/tie-downs to secure the load
- One four-wheel furniture dolly
Some rules:
Please, if you're moving a dresser, unload it, and remove the drawers. I carried a loaded dresser up a flight of stairs ONCE, and it was my mistake to do it. I'd rather do five or six light trips than one trip that is heavy enough for someone to get hurt.
I can't take anything to the landfill that is not permitted waste.
The basic categories of permitted waste are:
- Construction/Demolition Debris
- Woodwaste
- Yard Trash
Things I would love to take to the dump that are NOT ALLOWED:
- Furniture
- Putrescibles (garbage, rotting food, etc.)
- no garbage in the garbage dump, got it.
- White Goods (refrigerators, freezers, etc.)
- E-Waste (TVs, VCRs, Computers, etc.)
- Tires
- Treated Lumber
- Paint, oil, oil filters, motors, batteries, etc.
- Enclosed containers (whatever that may mean), gas cylinders, fluorescent light fixtures with ballast or neon
Not rules, but suggestions to make your move easier:
- Books are heavy, and they should be in small boxes. Most storage places, and some big box stores, sell book boxes! They're small, so they're cheap. You'll thank yourself later.
